With
open arms, we nourish body, mind and soul.
Since 1986, Open Arms of
Minnesota has relied on volunteers to prepare and deliver meals to people
in the Twin Cities living with HIV/AIDS, their dependent children, and
caregivers. In 2005, Open Arms expanded their local programming to also
serve women in treatment for breast cancer and people with ALS and MS.
In 2006
Open Arms will recognize their 20th anniversary and will have served their
one millionth meal to people in need.
Since 2000, Open Arms has partnered
with the Zwane Community Centre in the township of Guguletu, South Africa,
to provide a daily lunch to members of an HIV/AIDS support group. Open
Arms also distributes food parcels to families living with HIV/AIDS in
Guguletu.
